Become who you were born to be…

I’m obsessed with Lord of the Rings–the books and the movies.

There is one scene in the third movie–The Return of the King–in which Elrond has journeyed from Rivendell to talk to Aragorn. He hands to Aragorn Anduril, a sword formed the ancient shards of Narsil (told you I was obsessed), and says to Aragorn, “Become who you were born to be…” (If you are totally lost, click the links).

The point is this: Aragorn was living his life as an outcast nomadic desperado, but it was necessary for him to start acting like the king he was born to be. When he started to do that, man I tell ya. Things started going right. He got a whole bunch of dead dudes to fight with him against his enemies. He started handling things and taking names. He had to take on the responsibility, leadership, and attitude of a king, though.

You owe it to yourself (and everyone you know) to become who you were born to be. This is the only way that you will understand what you were meant to do, who you were meant to know, where you were meant to go. You will have to take on lots of responsibility; you will face conflict; you will have to make some tough decisions. But, at the end of your life, when people speak your name it will have meaning.
